The Functional Liver Detoxification Profile is a true functional test that is completely different to a blood ‘liver function test’. The test is a challenge test that challenges the liver’s detoxification capacity using small doses of Caffeine, Aspirin and Paracetamol. Saliva and urine specimens are then collected to analyse the metabolites (breakdown products) of these three products. This then determines the efficiency of major pathways of metabolism within the liver.
The FLDP can provide valuable information if you have a condition such as food allergies, multiple chemical sensitivities, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, or hormonal imbalances eg. menopausal symptoms or premenstrual syndrome.
Subtle signs and symptoms of liver problems may include things such as ; easy bruising, yellow whites of the eyes, unexplained nausea, loss of appetite, bloating, sensitivity to fatty food, itchy skin, muscle weakness or pain, headaches, and alcohol or caffeine sensitivity. The results of an FLDP can identify a blockage in a certain metabolic pathway and therefore determine the direction of treatment. There is also a children’s kit available for those aged 4 to 12 years.
Once your practitioner has given you a request form to order an FLDP you can either simply go online to www.arlaus.com.au or request a kit by phoning the Analytical Reference Laboratory customer service number 1300554480. The test kit contains full instructions.
If you suffer with any of the conditions or symptoms listed above why not ask your practitioner for a referral for an FLDP at your next visit. You may be pleasantly surprised.
